The whole omega 3 debate has been going on for years. Some believe that taking fish oil as a preventive supplement is a healthy strategy.

But it seems that research are starting to catch up on a more nuanced view.

If you are healthy and have no pre existing CVD disease, supplementing with fish oil seems to be a bad decision for your health.

" Regular use of fish oil supplements might be a risk factor for atrial fibrillation and stroke among the general population but could be beneficial for progression of cardiovascular disease from atrial fibrillation to major adverse cardiovascular events, and from atrial fibrillation to death. "

Now even though this is an observational study, it is still asking some important questions about the common view in the mainstream health industry, that omega 3 supplementation is beneficial for all healthy adults.
